Teach in China

Teach in Universities & High Schools

NOTE: Obtaining a work visa to teach in China can be a lengthy and difficult process and take at least six months.

Since 1986, ERRChina has placed experienced Western educators at some of China’s top universities and institutions. We work closely with our broad network of strategic partners to match teaching applicants with the best school for them.

Recent Adaptations

In early 2020, our foreign teachers switched to teaching online due to the global health crisis. Some educators remained in Mainland China. Others relocated temporarily to nearby countries in East Asia or their home countries in the West. As of fall-2022, some teachers have returned to Chna and in-country teachers are back to interacting with students in-person (with unpredictable periodic lockdowns and in-person restrictions), while others continue to teach remotely from outside China.

Throughout this period of isolation and uncertainty, ERRChina has remained faithful to our commitments with partner universities, adapting as needed for the health and safety of host country staff, students, and local communities.

In 2023 China appears to be opening up again, having abruptly dropped the Zero-Covid policy, removed the testing and green code surveillance system and cut way back on testing. This may indicate that the door is again opening to in-person teaching across the Chinese mainland.
