ERRC SUMMER TEACHING PROGRAM

Teach some of the country’s top graduate students in an enriched for-credit summer program at their university. Your experience begins with orientation in the Berkeley area before departing for China.

Our objectives for the program are:

  • To be a witness for Christ in China as a competent and caring teacher
  • To gain cross-cultural sensitivity through living in as well as working in university campuses
  • To develop a deeper understanding of China, of China ministry and a heart for the Chinese people
  • To prepare and discern prayerfully for possible longer term ministry commitments to China

Program Overview
All applicants must also be willing to join the ERRC Partnership Team, and be willing to raise funds to cover the cost of insurance, visa, airfare travel, orientation, administrative expenses and organizational overhead. The host institutions provide housing as well as a stipend, except for the high school students' teaching program. Financial obligations are minimal.

Cost: $1200 + Visa fee + Travel insurance + international airfare (about $3300)

Program participants can earn educational credits with $45 per unit. Please contact ERRC for details.

Classes are 25-35 students with teaching assignments involving a maximum of 18 hours teaching per week.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have fundamental knowledge of lesson planning and meet the appropriate program requirements:

Teach Undergraduates/Graduate Students - 4 weeks late June/early July, credited course

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree with TESL certificate and 2-year teaching experience OR Master’s degree.
  • Mature Christian in excellent health.
  • Native English speaker.
  • Good people skills. Team player.

Teach high school students - 3 weeks in July, enrichment program

  • Major in English, TESL or education. Able to follow the team leader selected TESL curriculum.
  • A mature Christian, full of energy. Good people skills. Team player.
  • Native English speaker

Teach University subjects - 3-4 weeks In July, credited course [tentative]

  • Current college faculty member.
  • Able to teach an intensive course. Willing to adjust to non-native English speaker’s level.
  • Mature Christian in excellent health.
  • Good people skills.
